History

Founded in 1978, and acquired by the Optimum Group Inc in 1987, Optimum Re Insurance Company (ORIC) is active in the United States and Caribbean, operating from its main office in Dallas, Texas.

Immediately ORIC set a strategy to expand its reinsurance client base. Our innovative marketing approach allowed for a controlled but rapid growth right from the start. In 1991, we acquired the reinsurance of AGC Life Insurance Company of Nashville, Tennessee. In 1998 and 1999 further acquisitions of major blocks of reinsurance from competitors were finalized. In 2005, we announced our latest acquisition – 130 accounts from Generali. These acquisitions have allowed ORIC to accelerate our pace of growth. In 2004, we expanded our market by a new offering to larger ceding companies. ORIC continues to increase its client base and is still looking for reinsurance acquisitions and areas of growth.
